Archibald Henry Sayce (1846 - 1933) foi um pioneiro assiriologista e linguista britânico, que ocupou uma cadeira como professor de assiriologia na Universidade de Oxford de 1891 a 1919.^[1] Ele foi capaz de escrever em pelo menos vinte línguas antigas e modernas, e era conhecido por sua ênfase na importância da evidência arqueológica e monumental na pesquisa linguística.^[2] Foi colaborador de artigos nas 9ª, 10ª e 11ª edições da Encyclopædia Britannica.^[3]
