History

The station opened on 20 December 1912 as Terai Station (寺井駅).[4] With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.[4] The station name was changed to its present name on 14 March 2015.[5] The name was changed to provide a closer association with the city of Nomi, as it is the only station in the city.[6]

On 16 March 2024, the station came under the aegis of the IR Ishikawa Railway due to the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Tsuruga.[7]

In fiscal 2015, the station was used by an average of 1,217 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[8]
